Our Story
The Stoltzfus family has been proudly serving Booths Corner customers for over 70 years. As a third generation stand holder, my earliest memories of Booths Corner are from age 5, being with my Aunt Miriam at the chip stand and Burle, the peanut lady, throwing peanuts across the aisle at me.
My family got its start at Booths Corner back in 1948, well before that childhood memory. That’s when my grandparents, Amos & Sadie Stoltzfus, first brought beef, pork, chickens, and homemade baked goods to The Sale as a way to support their growing family.
In 1978, my parents, Steve & Arie Stoltzfus, joined my grandparents as stand holders when they opened the Bar B Q Pit, which would eventually become Stoltzfus BBQ & Fresh Poultry. At the age of 10 I started helping my father in the back room, prepping food and doing dishes. I also had the privilege of working alongside my grandfather. I loved to watch him interact with customers and was amazed at how he could remember each one by name.
In 1993 my wife, Naomi, and I carried on the family tradition, taking over as owners of Stoltzfus BBQ & Fresh Poultry. In 2001 we expanded our hot foods section to include baby back ribs, 10 flavors of chicken wings, fried chicken and many other delicious ready to eat foods.
Every market day you’ll find us, along with our four children, helping customers select the freshest, highest-quality poultry and poultry products.
Come Thanksgiving, our case is filled with all things turkey: Fresh, locally-raised, antibiotic-free turkeys and turkey breast, locally-raised free-range ducks and geese, and the popular JFM hickory smoked turkeys. We even have a pre-order option for holiday favorites. That way our customers can count on serving their favorite poultry at their holiday meal.
